Wisdom Beyond Their Years

Stop all the lying

If I could change only one thing in our world it would be to make everyone honest. No one is honest anymore because we are teaching our children that these little lies are okay, and then when they grow up they can’t stop lying.

If everyone was honest there would be no more jury duty, because we wouldn’t need a court. No more “I don’t knows” or weaving deceitful webs, or whatever that proverb is. Although you would have to tell her, “Yes, your butt looks big in that,” and “No, orange is not your best color.” Or when you really don’t want to go, the “I have a report due Monday” excuse is no longer usable. But think of how great the world would be if no one lied: we would know things so much quicker. We’d know if [the check] is in the mail or when our call will be ready and how much that ring is really worth.

Unfortunately, we have started a chain of lies which has tangled us all.
